The Pied Piper of School

Remember the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin? The Piper punished the town for not paying him the agreed fee by playing a tune that caused all the children to follow him, happily dancing to his tune. How horrible, right?

The really horrible thing is, if a group of children today were obediently following a charming adult - with rapt attention, without any dissent, never ever challenging the authority of the adult, apparently full of cheer - you would call that a perfect classroom.
